Speaking as someone who can't afford a copy of Rational Rose for personal use, I'd prefer a more free (as in beer, for practical reasons, and as in speech, for ideological ones) solution anyway. ArgoUML springs to mind as the obvious suggestion, but I'd love to hear about any others. :)
For simple display rather than editable files, PS or PDF sounds sensible enough.
