Opinions are opinions even if you think you have the only one :)

Some of his statements aren't true. For instance, there is generally a
way to navigate the open documents within an MDI interface by using the
keyboard....CTRL-TAB, I believe.

Some applications make individual windows that are open in an MDI
interface available on the taskbar as if they were separate application
windows. Adobe Acrobat is an example. MS Excel is another.

Just because the average user is confused by an interface, doesn't mean
it's a bad interface. It's quite possible that the user is ignorant.
Most computer users are extremely ignorant. Some are unwilling to, or
are unable to, learn the more complex or less obvious features or
concepts of their software.

Simple isn't always 'better'...it's just easier to learn or perhaps more
obvious. If simpler always won out over more complex, we'd all be
riding bicycles to work instead of driving motor vehicles. Everyone
would be coding in REALbasic instead of C.

SDI might please more people, be easier to use and that could *possibly*
translate into more profit, but that still doesn't make it functionally
better than MDI.

But, this is just an opinion ;)
