User confusion is the definition of a bad interface.  If the developer
doesn't understand that then it is the developer that is ignorant (there are
lots of very ignorant developers out there).  Stating that it is a matter of
opinion is a specious argument.  Usability is vital; finding a minority that
prefer a difficult interface is simply a rationalization for ignoring a
problem.  There are people out there that prefer the command line for crying
out loud!  I doubt you're going to gain any marketshare with an application
like that...

Just because the average user is confused by an interface, doesn't mean it's
a bad interface.  It's quite possible that the user is ignorant.
