No, it won't. It might help a little, but a simple enclosure with grounded
sides will only shield electrical fields. Magnetic fields are considerably
harder to shield. Magnetic shielding is done using mu-Metals, which are
pretty expensive. High frequency electro-magnetic fields will die out
easily in any metal using the skin effect, but the low frequency ones
(like the vertical frequency, which is about 100Hz at most) are hard to
stop.

This is only true for the X target of GGI. The idea is, that with a grabbed
mouse, you can't switch between windows anymore, which is a desireable
thing to do for most applications. Thus by default the pointer stays free.
Note, that it is possible to use an absolute mouse for gaming as well, but
it's feeling a bit strange and it needs support in the game code.
However I think his problem is different, as it happens on the console for
him. The most common reasons for that are insufficient permissions to the
mouse device or a missing/wrongly configured
/usr/local/etc/ggi/input/linux-mouse.

Do you really think it would be a good idea to grab the mouse by default ?
For anything except some action games I wouldn't like it, and basically
the original xquake did just the same: Grabbing ungrabbing the mouse was
a question of a menu setting.

Hehe ... probably not ... - though it might depend on the macro
configuration - maybe he can "jump up, aim 35 degrees down,16 degrees left,
fire rocket, switch back to standard weapon" with a single keystroke :-)).
