In addition, if you click the linking icon in the paths or channels dialog, the 
same
function is performed, not just with each individual image element (i.e. 
layers, paths,
channels), but across them as well.  If you have the link icon clicked for a 
layer, and
click it for a path or channel, then move the layer, the path or channel will 
move in
sync with the layer (or move the channel/path and the layer moves, etc.).  
Kinda handy. 
If you make a selection, then save it to a channel, then later say, bucket fill 
the
selection, then decide to move the layer you just bucket filled, if you have 
the channel
and the layer linked, you can move both, then if you need to recall the 
selection for
some reason, it is in perfect registration with the bucket filled layer.
