I also own a PPA for Ubuntu 14.04 and 16.04 that provides Geany 1.29, which is newer than the Geany 1.27 provided by `geany-dev/ppa`. Its Launchpad URL is https://launchpad.net/~brentonhorne/+archive/ubuntu/geany2.
