@pitrou thanks for the reaction. On the issue itself: please feel free to close it as not planned if you believe that the implementation would not be merged. It would also help to have it addressed on the Pandas side, since [the Pandas maintainers' request](https://github.com/pandas-dev/pandas/issues/60073#issuecomment-2440090213) was to try on the PyArrow side first. On Google Summer of Code: sorry for the possible confusion, the primary goal of the "Arrow for Astronomy" project is to improve a few aspects of PyArrow to help with Pandas ArrowDtype and nested data structures.
