@rok, I believe that it 1) helps unify numpy and pyarrow code or port numpy code to pyarrow, see, e.g., the Pandas dtype-backend use case I mentioned, 2) from the user interface perspective, sometimes it is easier to create a single-element array than a scalar. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
