Yes, it is - but it has a tendency to mean "to wipe over something" or "to wipe
something with a cleaning utensil", instead of meaning "wipe out" (German:
"auslöschen"), which, as far I understand, you seem to associate with "to wipe".
E.g. you would use "wischen" to describe the work of cleaning staff (E.g. "den
Fussboden wischen", lit.: "wiping the floor"), but "die Festplatte wischen" (lit.
"wiping the harddisk"), would associate using a washrag :)
Therefore, "Gtk's Signale wischen" ("wiping Gtk's signals") would not give any real
sense.
