For what it's worth, re the example Ross points at, I would write
{{{
[1 % 1, 1 % 2, 1 % 3, 1 % 4]
}}}
which doesn't have the visual grouping problem.
I'm putting this bug in the 6.8 branch milestone, as we ought to do
/something/ soon.
