The primary function of `Show` is for ASCII serialisation, visual
aesthetics are a secondary consideration. Hence I think spaces should be
omitted unless they are necessary for disambiguation (i.e. I agree with
Neil), and GHC's behaviour here is morally right, although it doesn't
follow the spec.
