Hello - new group member here, trying to figure out something kind of
complicated. I'm interested in buying a frame/lens set online, but I
want to make sure I'm getting something of good quality. I am one of
the folks who can easily discern optical abberations in my peripheral
vision, so if the lens material isn't really good, I don't want to
waste my money.

I'm particularly interested in the ABBE values of the various lens
materials used by these outfits. The problem is that each one seems
to cite a completely different value for their indexes (1.57, 1.59,
1.61, 1.6whatever), many of which have no match to the standard
available monomers from major manufacturers. This means that I can't
just say that Store X's 1.61 is likely to be a match for Monomer A
because it is also a 1.61, etc.

What I would *really* like to find is someone who is using the MR-8
monomer for 1.60 index lenses, since that particular one has the
highest ABBE value of any so-called "hi-index" lens on the market
right now. But I couldn't find anything on the websites that provided
any details about their standard lines - only on their super-high-end
options (for those that offer such choices).

Am I just being way too optimistic in expecting this kind of
information, much less to find someone actually using that specific
lens material at the extreme low-price end of the market? I'd
appreciate any info y'all may already have. Thanks.
