Your prescription is really quite mild and I would think most optical
professionals would not recommend the added cost of a 1.67 index lens.
I would think that minus prescriptions would only really benefit from
1.67 when you start pushing -6.00 or so. Plus corrections can benefit
around the +3.00 and up range.

Thickness is only part of the equation when considering 1.67 or 1.74
index lenses. The magnification/minification affect is usually a much
larger factor. Many hyperopic patients are very disoriented when
wearing anything other than high-index lenses. The other factor is
weight. High index lenses are more dense than regular lenses, thus
making them heavier. The thinner lens helps reduce weight, but again,
in your prescription it's unlikely you'll benefit from anything higher
than a 1.60 index lens.
