Oh, please. Locally, I'm doing good to get even cheap and horrible
glasses for under $300. From Zenni, the last glasses I ordered cost
$17. The most I've paid has been $63.

I did discover one flaw-- maybe-- with my fancy $63 glasses from
Zenni. The cylinder (correction for astigmatism) seems to be
incorporated into the front of the high-index lens. This makes the
lenses look warped in oblique lighting, as if the plastic is bent
(though I think that's just the axis of the cylinder). There is also
a slight ripple in the front surface. I can't observe these things by
looking _through_ the glasses; I can only see them by looking _at_ the
lenses, or more specifically at the reflections on the surface of the
lenses.

I don't know if it's an FDA requirement or just a custom, but all the
lenses I have gotten from local opticals in the USA have a uniform
base curve on the front, with both spherical and cylindrical
correction taking place on the back surface of the lens.
