Well, thank you Elgin. My humor rides somewhere between cheesy and corny. Mmmmm....now, I have a taste for cheezy poofs!
I think Chuck put it best, in that I should have been straight up with the guy. I wasn't there to throw it in his face that I'd just saved $200! In reality if optical shops were more flexible on their profit margins, I'd have bought from someone stateside. I do appreciate the "hands-on" service provided, but not at a markup in excess of 70%. Rationally speaking, I would have gladly paid $175- $180 ($65 markup) for a B&M shop. Beyond the initial fitting, I really don't go back to the optical shop until the next year's appointment. I really can't skimp on eye care, as I have glaucoma and diabetes in my family. I've lost a lot of things (hair, hearing, my cell phone...you get the picture) but I am NOT going blind!
