Dear friends,
While the climate discussion is very interesting and instructive due to
the technical competence of the participants, I hope those of us who are
interested in a more interdisciplinary discussion of global change can
stay on this group.
Personally, I think that, while climate change will be a critical factor
in the glogal transition ahead of us, the social, economic, and
political disruptions may be even more critical. These of course
include violence, which may be induced by politics, religion, or both.
I would like to know, for example, how much climate has to change before
it will exacerbate global violence (nationally and internationally) by
way of significant reductions in food supply (among other things) that
will be felt in the stomachs and pocketbooks of people in the first
world and/or the rich and powerful in the third world.
Hope things work out so that everyone can participate and contribute.
