I've just found a quote from All Gore in the on-line version of
chapter 1 from "Prescription For The Planet - The Painless Remedy for
our Energy & Environmental Crises
http://www.prescriptionfortheplanet.com/

Al makes the point with much less brutality that I am trying to get
across. He said:

"There are good people … who hold this at arm’s length because if they
acknowledge it and recognize it then the moral imperative to make big
changes is inescapable."
Al Gore, An Inconvenient Truth

In other words, it going to take a lot more than eating less meat to
get us out of this mess. And it is going to require the members of
the rich nations to become poorer. If they resist, which seems
extremely likely, then the result will be war, and poverty will be
forced upon them. In fact, the wars have already begun with Iraq,
where the US tried to get more oil supplies in order to maintain the
American Way of Life. As a result the US and the UK have been hit by
the Credit Crunch as the money runs out to pay for it!

Cheers, Alastair.
