Goldman Sachs Raises $5 Billion to Repay TARP Funds

Washington – Goldman Sachs Group Inc., buoyed by better-than-expected earnings
and a 54 percent gain in its stock price, Bank late Monday reported
first-quarter profit of $3.39 a share, beating estimates of $1.64 a share, and
said it would sell $5 billion of common shares to repay federal rescue funds.
