India Earnings : Axis Bank Q4 consolidated net surges 61%

Leading private sector lender, Axis Bank announced a phenomenal rise in
standalone net profit for the quarter ended March 2009. During the quarter, the
profit of the bank rose 60.89% to Rs 5,814.50 million from Rs 3,614.00 million
in the same quarter previous year.

Indices ended the first trading day of week on flat to negative note amid
volatile. Indices opened higher but soon dipped into negative but later
recovered but again turned negative in the second half of trade. The volatility
