General Electric net off 35%; Immelt sounds upbeat

NEW YORK — General Electric Co. said Friday its first-quarter earnings fell
35% on a sharp drop in financial-services related profit and revenue. Chairman
Jeff Immelt declared that the results were "consistent" with the forecast that
GE gave last month at an investor meeting. "Amid a continued weak economy,

Citigroup posted $1.6 billion profit, beat estimates

NewYork : Citigroup Inc., the U.S. bank rescued by $45 billion in U.S. taxpayer
funds, ended a five- quarter losing streak with a $1.6 billion profit on
trading gains and an accounting benefit for companies in distress. The

After yesterday sell-off Indices opened firm by getting mixed clues globally.
Later on sustained buying it moved higher with spark in realty, banking and IT
stock. Indices gave all of its gain in the last hour trade, it slips from the
top to form a new low but later on some short covering it managed [...]
