Hey Kids,

Flew the 'coupe today for the first time since November, thus ending a
long winter of Ercoupe withdrawls and other symptoms. It has been
hangared for the winter & I simply had no time to fly this spring due to
work & college.

I digress. My cousin flew me the 110 miles to my coupe's "winter
grounds" in HIS 100hp Ercoupe. As we were flying back home, I was trying
to keep up with his Supercoupe with my 85 ponies. Due to nailing some big
thermals, I had outclimbed him but he was ahead of me. We were going to
do a formation fly-by to our lunch destination, and I was trying to get to
the wingman position.

As I descended down to catch up to him (he was about 800' below me), I
entered the yellow arc of the speed range, a place I haven't flown much
in. There was some intermittent turbulence and we were flying in brisk
winds (but the plane didn't know that I guess)... As I descended, I got a
sudden "shuddering" in the ailerons, like they were trying to flap up and
down on their own. I reduced speed & power; the buffetting quit and all
was well.It was a bit unnerving.

I surmise that due to the size of the ailerons, this may just be a normal
effect one would encounter when moving at high speeds. The plane was just
annualled and otherwise flew normally so I don't know of any other
problems that might have caused this phenom. Has anyone else encountered
this?

It was good to fly!!!!!!!!
