I recall the maximum allowed to remove the counter weights was 3/16 of an
inch. The counter weights were to prevent flutter, this is what I believe
he
is getting. This can be a very serious situation and could have disastrous
results, like loosing the aileron. The system needs to be checked for
excessive play in the aileron system all the way from the yoke to the
aileron. I think most coupes have these weights removed as they were quite
heavy, I know I removed mine and have been thinking of reinstalling them.
