Scott:: I have flown the 75, the 90, and the O-200 and I find that the O-200 is a pretty aggressive fuel consumer, especially at low altitude and turning 2650. Of course, everything is relative, that would not be a radical fuel burn in my motorhome, or my old Blazer! I have yet to see a thousand pound Blazer. What might have lead to the high fuel consumption is leak down from the header tank from the last flight, less than complete fillup from the previous fueling, the lack of leaning, and a little headwind. also check the ailerons to be sure they trail in cruise without droop. I have an unanswered question, what was the airspeed? Fuel consumption @ 110-120 MPH indicated is going to be high. The O-200 conversion in the Ercoupe does not normally result in higher speeds due to the shortened (69") prop but does result in higher climb rates. I saw a couple of Ercoupes over the years that had 72" props mounted. I could never find the owners in order to glean a few performance numbers. Just some thoughts.
