I cast my vote for the old 'bug nest in the breather' theory. My frozen oil separator this winter (as you recall) pumped oil out of the motor like the result of Jed Clampett's missed shot. I lost 3 quarts in something like 20 minutes. After cleanup and overhaul of the breather system (and kicking the separator out in favor of a conventional breather), no further problems. Blow a big load of air through the breather system. Make sure that the 'whistle' hole is in place, well inside the cowling above any point that might freeze.
