To have the gascolator NOT "Hanging out there and swinging like a pendulum" , this is what the AD is for. To have the gascolator as close to the Carb as possible is a good thought because it is your last chance to get any gunk and especially water trapped before it enters the carburetor. The Gascolator is not a fuel filter, which could be placed anywhere . It works with gravity and traps water droplets which might built up an are carried in the gasoline.
