      I'm glad you found what the problem was.    Basically it shouldn't
be very expensive to regrind the crank, install new bearings and a set
of rings. At that point you could check the valve guides and lap in the
valves and your on the road again.  Being on the Canadian Owners
Maitenance plan I figure if I did the job myself, I could most likely do
the whole thing for under $500.  This does not apply to the U.S.
unfortunately.  Still you should be able to get it done for a max of
$1500.  Don't let them get carried away!   These are very basic simple
engines. Check Trade-a-Plane for bearings etc. and you'll see the parts
are quite cheap.   Good luck and let us know how it works out and at
what cost, if you don't mind.
