When I first started looking at 'Coupes, that header tank worried me some -- the post-crash fire statistics for any plane with similar tank placement is not so good. So...I asked my very wise AP about it. His response, "Well, there's an easy fix -- don't crash." But seriously, he went on to point out that lots more GA pilots are killed by fuel exhaustion than fire. A pretty good point, I think.
