Perhaps the sort of 'rugged individualist' who will take on such a business just isn't pre-disposed to be a 'people person.' On the other hand, when you encounter the other half of FBOs, who can't seem to do enough for you, throw you the keys to their personal cars to go get lunch, insist that there's plenty of room in the hangar for your plane over-night, you just CAN'T leave it out in the damp, you regain hope.
