Dick and Group, I am sorry to hear about your bad experience at an FBO. Unfortunately, the rude, impatient behavior that you wrote about is prevalent in all sorts of businesses and services. I agree with Ken Doyle that we should, as consumers, contact those in charge when we are treated poorly by their employees. Also, I think it's good idea to let the owners/managers know when the employees do an especially good job too. Regarding signs- I agree with Dick that some well placed signs would have been very helpful. However, it is important that signs be clearly written and COURTEOUS. A few months back I stayed at at motel, while the room was pleasant and clean, the abundance of less-than-polite signs didn't exactly make me feel like a welcome guest. For example, there was a sign in the bathroom promising to charge for any linens stolen. They had my credit card number, for heaven't sake! Suggesting that I might steal a washcloth or pillow is downright insulting and I do take offense. I think it's enough to ennumerate the house rules on the receipt that I have to sign. Plastering signs all over the place is overkill. I have stayed at a number of different motels/hotels over the years and this was the only place that had so many "do", "don't", and "you'd better or else" signs everywhere. I was going to let this go but if it saves a pilot from going through rude treatment and paperwork hassle, them it's worth it. Of course, your experience could be entirely different. I am talking about the Hilltop Medical Clinic in Redding CA. The AME who works out of there is a retired doctor who now only does FAA medicals. He is a nice man, probably was a very good doctor when he was practicing, has been doing medicals for many, many years, and thorougly understands what the FAA wants. Unfortunately, although he has privileges at the Hilltop Medical Clinic, he apparently has little control over the office staff. The office staff either doesn't have a clue about FAA paperwork and how touchy they are or flat doesn't give a s*** about it. Whatever the case may be, the office people are extremely rude, hostile, and about as easy to deal with as the plague. Like I said, the AME is wonderful, but you'd be better off going somewhere else where the paper pushers are more pilot friendly. If someone else out there had a better experience with Hilltop, all I can say is good for you. Spook __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
