Jim, while I mostly agree with you, the CFI who trained me for 'Coupes advised keeping in a little power on final until I had a fair number of 'Coupe hours under my belt. You're absolutely right about the spot landings; my CFI's concern was that for less experienced 'Coupers, it can be easy to fly too close to comfortable margins and find yourself behind the power curve. No problem if you don't flare too high or don't need to go around, but being on the wrong side of that curve can be an unhappy place to be if you're not fully ready to meet terra firma. It's not like we have so much power that we can just cram the throttle in to pull the fat out of the fire. That said, I don't find the sink to be such a big deal. It's just part of the nature of the plane.
