Whenever we ck'ed the wing tanks after any flight both wing tanks were
equal and whenever the header tank started down we found both wing tanks
empty. Never had anything happen like you described. Only time header tank
went down with gas in wing tanks was one time when fuel pump failed. I
would say something is plugged in your system. Jim Phelps soon to be ex

Subject: [COUPERS-FLYIN] fuel useage

----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any
advice in this forum.]----

I'm sure this has been addressed many times in the past, but I am
relatively new
to the 'Coupe fraternity, being a former Comanche driver who came in from
the
cold.

At the start of a cross-country flight last weekend, all three tanks were
topped off.
The left wing depleted quickly, then the float indicator in the header
tank began
to drop. At the end of the flight, the left tank was empty and the header
tank was
almost empty, but the right tank was full.

I understand that the little fuel pump transports fuel to the header tank
as needed,
then gravity takes it from there to the gascolator. Any excess is pumped
as
overflow from the header to the right wing tank, from which fuel is pumped
as needed
when the left tank is empty and the header fuel level begins to drop.
That didn't
appear to be happening.

Any ideas here? Can someone provide a definitive description of how the
fuel system
should work, and what the float indications should be as fuel burn
progresses?

Thanks,
