For example, I flew from Iowa City to Chester, Connecticut, in one day, arriving about 5-6 p.m. To do this, I flew high and leaned the engine. I also did not drink for a couple of hours before takeoff. I took a can of pop or two in case of dehydration. About a half hour before each of the two fuel stops, I drank a can of pop. After dewatering, I'd fill the tanks, drain my personal tank again then take off. Saving a pee stop or two makes a lot of difference in travel time. It was a long, tiring day of flying but the Coupe showed its range. It can be useful sometimes on cross-country trips. This gave me maximum time to visit my friend. The trip back, against the prevailing westerlies, took three fuel stops and the third of those was an overnight to wait out weather. Still got to work on time Monday, though.
