Marko - I never did hear from the Google password recovery module. I had checked Spam several times. Like you, I thought for sure that I had written down the password incorrectly - but that wasn't the case.
On the morning of 21 November, after typing in the same password unsuccessfully perhaps 30-40 times (yes, I was doing the same thing over and over, hoping for different results), the password worked. I immediately changed it, and the latest password works without problem. Could I have typed it in 30-40 times, always incorrectly, and then "accidentally" typed it in correctly? Nothing is impossible, but that seems unlikely. That sudden resolution doesn't make sense, but I'm very glad it finally worked out. It's unsettling that I never heard back from the Google password recovery module, and it's even more unsettling that there seems to be no way to contact Google itself. But I know that's the price we pay for free email. I feel very lucky that things finally worked out, for now.
