I wondered where mine keep going - I realised that it's when I access my mail using the Gmail Android app I have deleted the "Drafts" from there thinking that they weren't needed and not realising that these were in fact my canned responses.
They do not appear as Drafts when I access my email account via the web browser. Fortunately I have the text backed up in another service so could put them back by cut and paste.
