I had the same problem too, when I bought a new phone in april. I still
haven't sorted it completely out, and it's quite weird. Some of my friends
and family doesn't show up in my contacts list, but when I manually type
their number into the dialer, they show up with name. But then I get teh
option to add them to contacts. And after that, they show up normally.

I suspect it's some bug with what contacts were linked with your google
account and which were not on the OLD phone. I did NOT do any form of
contact transferring, as I assumed it all went automatically with google.

I have ended up just giving up,

Med vennlig hilsen
