​Quick update.  After going to the Cricket store where I bought the phone,
the person who sold it to me was on duty and restored it to factory specs (*in
far less time* than a Sampson tech in the Philippines told me it would
take!).  Although things are pretty much the same, seeing her restore what
I had before the restoration is something I don't want to experience again,
which would be necessary if Samsung worked on the phone.  Even what she did
has screwed up my contact lists somewhat.  Since both issues are relatively
minor overall, I will live with them!​
