  In the "stock" GNOME setups provided with most distros, I'd be inclined to
agree.  However, with the more recent GNOME releases and the "new" "default"
GNOME window manager, Sawfish (formerly Sawmill), things are much improved.  
Sawfish isn't the performance dog E! is, and most or all of the crashes and
other quirks earlier GNOME programs exhibited seem to have been fixed.

  Don't get me wrong, KDE is a fine suite, and I'm really impressed with it,
but a lot of the deficiencies in GNOME have been fixed.  Meanwhile, KDE 1.x
isn't as configurable as I'd like it to be.  I must admit, KDE 2.x is looking
very interesting, though.
