Is there a GNHLUG mailing list that is focused mainly on the Slackware
flavor of Linux? If not, can someone tell what the daily email traffic
is like on the GNHLUG general discussion list?

<begin_excuse>

When I was subscribed previously I noticed that most of the discussion
centered on RedHat. I don't get to my email very often so having a bunch
of messages about Linux aspects of which I know little is very confusing,
given the fact that I am pretty new to the system (although I am somewhat
experienced with UNIX/BSD through my ISP shell account use). Right now, I
just need to focus only on Slackware before I move on to something like
RedHat. The fact is that I have very little experience with GUI-interface
at all. Believe it or not: I have *never* used M$oft Windows* anything.
(I could never get get used to those silly icons. And I don't really like
mice either.) Therefore having a lot of RedHat or general "X" discussion
directed at me at this point is like trying to decode messages from
*Vega* or something. Yes, at some point in the _near_ future, I will
start playing with some variation of the "X" flavor, but right now I just
want to get fluent in secure and reliable basic
Slackware_As_Second_Language mode.

You're probably saying to yourself something like, "<tsk> What a picky
jerk this newbie is...." or "Duh. What the hay can this newbie offer
NHGLUG!?!" Well, I don't know yet. I just know that I have been totally
enamored with Linux since I first learned of and tried it. I also know
that I am very, very good with attention to details and _do_ read
documentation. (I've always fancied that I would be a great writer of
techie-stuff that is to be directed at flat-out newbies!)
<eh-hem>...which is not to imply that I am not capable of jumping in with
a hands-on [WYSIWYG] approach either. :-D

<end_excuse>

What is the policy about sharing the list subscribers' addresses [a SPAM
concern for me - although I _know_ that Linux systems are more secure
about that than say those with M$ flavors]. I don't want to give you the
impression that I lack the same *open* flavor as Linux, mind you, it's
just a resource-usage [at my ISP] concern for me. Now that I have gotten
my SPAM-quota down to very few, I want to keep it that way until I figure
out from where/who the remainder is originating.

Sorry that I will miss the meeting tonight in Concord. The car I can use
get horrendous gas mileage. Given that and my current LACK of need to
know about *firewalls* I have decided to stay home and play with my
Slackware set-up. :-D

Are there any people in the Lakes Region area [Laconia] who attend GNHLUG
meetings who might like to carpool sometime (in my case it's not really
reciprocal, but I'm happy to help with petrol).
