I vaguely remember this as well. Ironically, not to soon after, I also
remember that Synopsys announced they would then support Linux.

In my previous 2 lives, I worked with EDA dev. groups which relied upon
Synopsys, Cadence, Verilog, et. al. These have been traditionally Sun based
shops. Up until about 2 years ago, Sun was the most prominent Unix based
environment supported by these vendors, but most other flavors were constantly
being dropped as the Unix market overall was falling to NT.

Several of our developers were constantly requesting I bring in NT systems in
so they could "test" the NT versions. I resisted telling them if they wanted
NT, they needed to hire an NT admin :) One guy, a useless manager, insisted
that Unix/Sun was obsolete and that he wanted his entire group on NT since it
was "The way of the future". I specifically told him then, that if he waits
until (the then named) NT5 comes out, he will see a huge shift back to the
Unix platform for this type of work, and that it wouldn't surprise me if the
shift were also to Linux.

He ignored me, then he laughed at me, then he fought with me to
get NT in. Now I'm laughing cause I win :)
