Thanks folks, but I am really a very shy, retiring kind of person, so this
applies to me too.

Having everyone state their names and affiliations at the beginning of the
meeting usually took between four and five minutes even on a crowded night. For
the "face-challenged" person like me, it eventually helped me know the names
of lots of you. But for the newbie, or the person who shows up for two or
three meetings a year (yet reads this list), it helps them match the face with
the name, so they can approach them by name instead of "hey you".

As to name cards, I wear them to so many conventions, I don't even think they
are cheesy any more.

Finally, as the web site keeps getting new functionality, perhaps a "finger"
capability for members would be good. Let the members enter their own
brief descriptions of their name, firm, expertise and contact information (as
desired), so people can find out more about them after the meeting, or decide
who to search out before going to the meeting. Maybe people could even put
small images of what they looked like in the database as well.
