OK, I know I said I was off this discussion, but:
1. I agree with Dana. No one's going to change anyone's opinions, so
let's drop this discussion.
2. I admit freely that I have been a contributor to this. Anyone who has
been offended, I apolagize.
3. We welcome presentations on all sorts of software at our meetings.
We've even been known to have presentations about commercial, proprietary
software (gasp!). Anyone who wants to advocate a particular software, or
feels strongly enough about it to make a pitch for it, or just wants to
talk about it - please contact Jerry, myself, or one of the chapter chairs
- trust me, we'll fit you into our <sarcasm>overloaded</sarcasm> meeting
schedules.
4. Let's all remember that the best advocacy is not knocking the other
product, but presenting your favorite in the best possible light.
Translation: Everyone try to stop the flamewars quickly! Change topic!
On that note - Linux 2.4.5 is out.
