This is sheer nonsense. It is not the mention of so-called
"alternative" software that causes certain of us here to respond
vigorously. I think I speak for all of those who have defended
Sendmail (feel free to correct me if I'm mistaken here) that not one
of us has anything against qmail, and I dare say that we'd all
actually welcome an intelligent, factual discussion of what merits it
has, technical or otherwise.

Instead, we get brow-beaten with statements to the effect that qmail
(or djbdns) is superior, and we're all stupid for using sendmail (or
BIND), with virtually no technical reasoning or evidence to support
such insulting claims, from both Kurth and from you, List Monkey (or
should I say Peter Cavender). Speaking for myself (from here on),
your comments are not only arrogant (which honestly, I have no problem
with), but also blatantly and intentionally derisive, offensive and
childish.

Many of us have asked you REPEATEDLY to back up your claims, and
neither of you have made an iota of effort to do so. You have
repeatedly failed to tell us WHY qmail is better. Instead, it seems
you'd much rather berate the subscribers of this list with insults and
condescending verbage. The only one legitimate point that you have
made with any factual basis in support of your arguments is that BIND
has a long-standing history of security vulnerabilities, up to
more-or-less present day. But though it is one compelling argument,
this one point hardly constitutes proof positive that djbdns is
superior to BIND. And even this point has largely been lost in the
way you (in the plural sense) chose to deliver the message, with
thinly veiled contempt for those of us who use BIND, regardless of the
many strong arguments in favor of using BIND.

I will ask one more time... I implore you, if you have something
positive to contribute, PLEASE do so. But if not -- if all you want to
do is insult people here that don't choose to run the same software as
you (for whatever reason) -- then please go away. I think we've all had
more than enough of that in junior high school.
