For myriad reasons too complex to go into now, I have installed 7.1.93 on
my work system. Well... this may have been a bad move. It boots fine,
and gets me right up to the login prompt, whereupon I'm informed that no,
I don't have the credentials to log in. I've played around with my
/etc/pam.d/* files, and even swapped the directory with the one from my
original 7.0 install (always back up your /etc directory before an
upgrade!), but no go. Boots fine, also, to single-user mode, which is
what I'm typing this from, but how in blazes do I convince it to let me in
in multi-user mode? Note: this includes YP-based users, as well as local
users, up to and including root.

Thanks...

-Ken (who's getting *really* tempted to find & compile a pre-PAM login.c)
