2.4.11 fixed a potential security bug in symlink handling. Unfortunately, the fix contained a new bug, which led to minor filesystem corruption when creating a file through a dangling symlink. (The result was an inode which was hard to delete.) 2.4.12 fixes that bug. Of course, according to rumor, 2.4.12 also broke the parallel port driver.
