Paul, When apps are iconified, they show up on the panel at the bottom of the screen. That's its default location; it can be changed. From there they can be maximized, closed, moved to a different desktop,...
There are a lot of customization options in the "Control Center", particularly under the "Look & Feel" section. Feel free to email me if you have KDE-specific questions that might not be Of General Interest.
