Not really an answer, but maybe this will help you in your search: There is way for clients to get their own private colormap. I think the client has to request it from the server when it sets up the session. Some applications I've used in the past supported an "-install" (single-dash) command-line option which told them to install their own colormap. > Does anyone know of any way to, say, single out an application for a > private eight-bit colormap?
