Looks fine to me. > IIRC, when you install Debian, you get "kernel of the day" which does not > automagically upgrade with apt-get or dselect ... I would think/hope it at least installs a semi-standard kernel from whatever the latest "stable" release is. > ... so you have to manually upgrade the kernel. That's fine; kernel upgrades are tricky enough that I would not want them being done behind my back. However, I would think/hope there would be *some* way to pull the latest kernel binary packages from the Debian repository. Your answer only serves to reinforce my impression that, in order to use Debian, you need a fast Internet connection and constant tinkering. :-) > If you've got a laptop, odds are the package is loaded already and it's > just a matter of configuration, which would be the same as for any other > distro. Well, 100% of the laptops I have seen running Debian did not have the needed packages installed. However, my sample consists of the laptop Paul Lussier brought to the last meeting, so I suspect my results may not be indicative of a trend. ;-) -- Ben Scott <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> | The opinions expressed in this message are those of the author and do not | | necessarily represent the views or policy of any other person, entity or | | organization.
