it was no exaggeration - you have not been around - this has been a recurring
theme for years; and we tried to explain this to you about three years ago

what Ricardo was really suggesting is that distros have no regard for this
work-group, mainly because it spends too much time on petty issues and never
accomplishes anything - several of the FSDG distros have expressed that opinion

and i agree fully with that assessment - i have no valid counter argument for it
- this work-group is not respectable today; and it is barely functional

i would very much like to change that, by convincing distros that they have a
stake in these discussions, and to entice as many as possible to participate,
for the sake of making the work-group better serve the free software community
as a whole, through collaboration, rather than each distro isolating themselves
and their users from the community as a whole, and doing redundant work
