Richard,

AutoHotkey is not part of Windows. On Mac, you could consider using Hammerspoon (along with Karabiner). See https://www.hammerspoon.org/ and https://karabiner-elements.pqrs.org/

Using a scheduled transaction would make sense if the transactions are entered regularly. If not, a duplicate transaction and copy/paste approach is probably best.

Regarding duplication with more than 4 entries, you can implement a keyboard shortcut to do any number of entries or strike it multiple times. The only issue I can think of is the requirement to be consistent with the initial location so the script tabs over appropriately.

Sherlock

AutoHotKey is not part of Windows, right? Actually, I use GnuCash on both
Mac and Windows; probably slightly more on Mac than Windows.

I like the idea of a manual scheduled transaction, because some have more
than 4 entries.

Hi Richard,

Assuming you're still using Windows, I suggest you consider using
AutoHotkey. Mapping a hotkey to copy the amount entered in a field, and
then tab over and paste the amount 3 times should be straight forward.

Greetings, all.

I have multiple occasions in which I have a 4-way spilt - all of the
amounts are the same and I'm finding it tedious to enter the same number
four times.

I know GnuCash has variables, but I think they only work for Scheduled
Transactions.

Is there a way to make the data entry easier? Perhaps (if not using a
variable), a keyboard shortcut?

Thanks to the maintainers for a great program!
Thanks to the people in this group, from whom I have learned much!
