I understand what you mean, and thank you.  My descriptions are more
standardized, though.

I'd never tried to turn off  autocomplete until today.     OMG, you can't.
 You cannot turn off autocomplete.

This is the first bad thing I've encountered with GnuCash.   Now, I do not
use it for AP/AR or Payroll at all.  I also don't export anything to a
QuickBooks file.   Hell, I copy and paste from GnuCash into Excel,  and
don't export to it.    I've used GnuCash to categorize my transactions and
reconcile my accounts since 2009.  It's great for that!!!!  But the new
features of autocomplete are not great; I do not need to see a list of
every transaction that could possibly match what I'm typing.
